Ddisgrifiad / Description | Honey Fairs have been held in Conwy for over 700 years. a Royal Charter given by Edward I gave local bee keepers the right to sell honey within the walls of Conwy every September 13th from midnight to midnight without charge. It was held along the High Street and seems to have moved to Castle Street just before the 1st World War. The fair moved to the Vicarage Car park in 1966 and stall holders were charged for a pitch for the first time. In 1985 the fair was returned to the High Street after being close to being abandoned. The street was closed off the traffic and stall space was again free of charge. The Honey Fair still continues to be held annually. Markets were also held every Tuesday during the 1970's - ? in the station car park. |
