Ddisgrifiad / Description | The Conwy Honey Fair dates back more than 700 years to the reign of Edward I when local beekeepers were first given the right to sell honey within the walls of Conwy town every September 13th from midnight to midnight without charge. Of all the fairs that sprang up including butter, wool and horse fairs only the Seed and Honey Fairs remain. They have had their ups and downs and the honey fair was close to being abandoned in 1983 but Conwy Town Council revived the fair. Alongside the honey stalls were various other vendors from crockery and linoleum to antiques and fruit and vegetables. For further information on the history of Conwy Honey Fairs see the Local History Files.
[The right to hold the fair is in the town's Royal Charter. - This text has been removed as we have deemed it inaccurate] |
