Ddisgrifiad / Description | Oakwood Park was built as a prestigious hotel by James Stott before the First World War. Rydal Senior School moved to Oakwood Park from Pwllycrochan in 1939. In 1946 Rydal Senior School moved back to Pwllycrochan and the Preparatory School moved into Oakwood Park until 1953 when it moved to the former Pwllycrochan Hotel. Oakwood Park then became a Mental Hospital until the new hospital was opened in Llanfairfechan in 1970. It stood empty until 1974 when it was auctioned to two Cornish businessmen who decided to use it as a Centre for the Mentally Handicapped. They sold off most of the surrounding land but did little else. It was taken over by the Moss family in 1982 to restore it as a hotel but the venture floundered and the Bathers family took over the building which was then converted into a family home.
