Ddisgrifiad / Description | The Church dates from the 13th century and was built by the Monks of Aberconwy and there is no indication that it replaced anything built earlier. The whole Church was drastically restored in 1858. The South Door of the Chancel dates from the 13th century but the Chancel itself was probably rebuilt and extended in the 15th century and at the same time the Nave was extended Westward and the South Porch added. About 1500 the Nave was extended to the West and a Chancel was added. In the 16th century a large South Chapel was added and in the 19th century a North Transept was built in place of a 17th century North Chancel Aisle. Gyffin was the birthplace (1501) of Dr. Richard Davies who became Bishop of St. Asaph and St. David's. He was one of the translators of the New Testament into Welsh.
