The old Fire Station was in Castle Square and it was demolished for the provision of a new approach road to the Suspension Bridge. The new station was built in the Town Ditch out of local stone. The occasion was a happy one for members of the Brigade. The Voluntary Organisation at this date had been in existence for 38 years and two members had been Firemen for 36 years.
