Teitl / TitleCastle Hotel, Conwy
Ddisgrifiad / DescriptionThe building itself housed the Castle Inn which was built in 1823 as a Coaching Inn. There is a legend that the Castle Hotel is haunted by the ghost of a young girl from Anglesey who came to Conwy to enter service. However, the young girl soon became homesick and she told the other workers at the hotel that if she died she wanted to be buried in Anglesey. Because she was so young the others laughed at her. Then one day, at the height of the season, she died and a quick burial was arranged in the nearby churchyard. After that, nothing went right in the hotel. People tripped over, items went missing, oil lights would not light, pottery shattered etc. Apart from causing chaos, the reputation of the hotel was being threatened, word travelled fast and it was no longer a desirable place to stay. When the proprietor was close to despair, one of the kitchen maids told him what the young girl had said about wanting to be buried in Anglesey. Arrangements were quickly made and her body was taken home to rest. After that, peace returned and only an empty grave was left to remind them of the young girl.
