Ddisgrifiad / Description | Queen Elizabeth of Roumania, Carmen Sylva at Mostyn Hall in Flintshire after her visit to Llandudno in 1890. She was met with a warm welcome in Llandudno, with crowds lining the route to the Marine Hotel where she was staying. She was a poet and at Lady Mostyn's suggestion, she attended the Eisteddfod, where she was initiated by the Archdruid Clwyd Fardd David Griffith, being proclaimed a Bard. She was invested with the symbol of the Bardic Order. She stayed in Llandudno for five weeks and when she departed, there was a salute of twenty-one lifeboat rockets fired from the Great Orme. Carmen Sylva Road, Roumania Drive, Sylva Gardens and other street names still commemorate her visit.
