Ddisgrifiad / Description | The church was built by C. and J. Shaw of Saddleworth in 1863-1864 (they also built Bryn-y-Neuadd Hall for the Platts) for the use of English residents and visitors. It was consecrated by the Bishop of Bangor and opened for Divine Service on 5 August 1864. Since then the present north aisle has been added.
It is a striking building with a tall spire. It has a screen, and ornate font and cover and much Victorian woodwork. The organ is one of the finest in North Wales and was built by William Hill and Son in 1902. It has been renovated and restored. There are several stained glass windows, including two of 1900 and 1905 by Kempe, with his wheatsheaf symbol in one corner. A window in the North Chapel commemorates Maurice R. Smith, Rector from 1925-1953. On the south wall is a picture of The Last Supper. The spire was restored in 1969 through the generosity of Gladys M. Stone in appreciation of the life and ministry of Canon E. Maldwyn Evans, Rector from 1953-1966. The list of Rectors dates from 1504.
