Ddisgrifiad / Description | On 28 January 1972, the 499 ton Hamburg Coaster, 'Hohenlinden' approaching Penmaenmawr at night, ran aground close to the Quarry Pier. She was refloated on the rising tide and after collecting an 873 ton cargo of granite chippings, sailed only to be sunk within forty eight hours. She went down rapidly after being involved in a collision in the North Sea on the 31 January. One of her crew of eight and a woman passenger were drowned.
