Ddisgrifiad / Description | The part of the building to the right of the picture [minus the tower] was the original home of the Erskine family who owned the Pwllycrochan Estate [see "Colwyn Bay Before the Houses Came" by George Porter, photo opposite p.28]. "Pwllycrochan" was later bought by Sir John Pender who appointed John Porter to open the house as a Country Hotel. The Hotel was taken over by the Ministry of Food during WW11 and then reverted back to a Hotel after the war. Closed in 1953 and became part of Rydal School, housing the Preparatory School. |
