Ddisgrifiad / DescriptionSituated at the corner of Conway Road and Coed Pella Road, the Council Offices were opened on July 15th 1904 having been converted from two houses formerly known as "Glan Aber" and "Rhianfa". The War Memorial in front of the building was unveiled on Nov 22nd 1922 by Lord Colwyn as a tribute to those who fell in the Great War. The WW1 tank which can be seen to the left of the picture, stood next to the building from 1920 to 1937. When the Civic Centre opened in May 1964, the Council Chambers on Conway Road became surplus to requirements and were eventually demolished. The War Memorial was relocated to it's present site in Queens Gardens c.1972.
