| Ddisgrifiad / Description | As another refit was due, the ship was to be moved from its anchorage near Plas Newydd to Birkenhead but this would entail passing through the notorious stretch of water around Menai Bridge known as 'the Swellies'. The journey was attempted but bad weather caused the ship to go aground and on April 16th 1953 the ship was declared a total constructive loss. [12 images] |
