[N.B. MUNCORN - a mixture of different kinds of grain usually wheat and rye especially when sown together. Prevalent in the second half of the 17th century when agricultural improvements were leading to a change over from rye to wheat as the principle bread corn. Sowing muncorn was seen as a precaution against failure of wheat.] |
