Ddisgrifiad / DescriptionRobert Evans Jones created the first edition of the 'Weekly News and Visitors' Chronicle for Colwyn Bay, Colwyn, Llandrillo, Conway, Deganwy and Neighbourhood' on 14th February 1889 at the back of a newsagent's on Rosehill Street in Conwy. He began capitalising on the tourism that was developing in the area and produced railway and shipping guides as well as the 'Conway Visitor' , a precursor to the 'Weekly News'. In 1900 he moved to a brand new printworks on Conwy Quay, built by his brother William. After seven decades on the quay the business transferred to a new site in Llandudno Junction. The family stayed a family-run business until 1988 when it was sold to Trinity International. Clive Jones, R.E. Jones' great-nephew remained as chairman of the new board at that time.
Both Walter Harris and his father William worked for the 'Weekly News'
